What is road hack
I've never heard of it until yesterday, and I was wondering what it was and how it's judged.
Answers:Road hack is a flat class ,frequently entered by arabs, saddlebreds, and nat'l show horses- however, some shows run it as an "open" english division class, and you will see hunt seat horses as well. Its run typically as a walk trot canter both ways of the ring. The difference is that they add an extended trot and a hand gallop. For safety reasons, they may split the class and canter and hand gallop in 2 sections. They are looking for a TRUE extention of both the \
trot and the canter - suitability and how pleasureable the ride
looks counts.
Hacking is riding in general, usually used to describe pleasure or leisurely riding.
Road Hacking means the the horse is being ridden along a road, not necessarily a paved road though.
Going for a road hack is when you ride around on the roads. In Europe it's a common thing and a big selling point for a horse or pony is that it is bomb proof on the roads. We used to ride racehorses and polo ponies all over on the roads and it's also a way to prevent the horse getting bored with the arena.
It is when you take the horse out on a ride and ride on road rather than feild. No one judges you!
I only know it as driving purposes, not sure if there is a riding gait for it.
But road hack is where they are in a very moving out trot, also known as the road trot here in the US
fast fast fast! yipee!
