Thinking of buying one but i gont know what type i should get.
Answers:To add to jdl1984, TWH were the breed of choice for the old plantation owners to travel around their vast land holdings. A great smooth ride, and historical value, too.
Quarter Horses are sturdy and good work horses and your gonna need a horse with muscle so don't get a show horse.Small horses tend to have bad backs.
Some good horses that can foot the rocky and hilly areas are most types of draft horses
QH's are one of my fav. choices for that
and if you are smaller Halfingers are good.
I've always like morgans for that type of area
and Rocky mountain horses definitely live up to their name
鈾?hope i helped
Try a Tennessee Walker. They are a "gaited" horse, and so have a "running walk" it is a VERY smooth run, not all bouncy like a trot. And they are very level headed, smart, and a joy to ride. They are sure footed, and because of the gait, they keep 3 feet on the ground at all times, unlike other horses, which during the trot, only have 2 feet on the ground at a time.
I have never owned one but they say gaited horses like Rockey Mt Horse or Missouri Fox Trotter are good for trail and are really smooth to help make the ride more comfortable. But if you are going to use it to work cows then maybe a QH would be better.
get yourself a good broke tenneessee walking horse. they are smooth gaited and good natured see the walkinghorsereport.com for more info on this great breed
Morgan & Mustang. They both are very sterdy breeds. They both have very good hooves on the most part. The Morgans were bred for logging & farm work without being very large, which means not as much hay as the draft breeds. They have great endurance. Both are easy to train. They have very good temperments. Good luck! Hope this helps.
I would suggest buying a good, sound Quarter Horse. My grandpa uses them for herding his cattle. But make sure you have the proper facilities, equipment, and know how to properly care for them.
rocky mountian horse
All depends what you are using it for. For farm use as in pulling and tilling land I would suggest a draft horse. They are very large, strong and sturdy horses for farm work and they can be broke to ride.
