What should i do
I'm in a horse camp at my stable and a 20 year old horse named imus had to be put down today this morning bcause he couldn't get up and he gave up and everybody is really sad and there's 2 times people ride and thats the better kids and i'm in that and than the little kids and they don't no what happened and we can't tell them and they got a thing to move him and barry him and some kids saw the body in the pasture and the bobcat. and theres a donkey that no horses like and some people including my instructor don't like and she's way sad has no friends now and was so sad and didn't make anynoise today which she never does and i really want to help her but all the other horses kick or try to nip her and we put her down w/ other pony's and she was standing there watching them and turning to look @ were they were barring him and just stood there and i felt sooooo bad for her it made me cry if u have anysugestions it will be much appreciated!
Answers:Dont lie to them if they come right out and ask if a horse died. But if they just ask where the horse is tell them he is out in the pasture enjoying the grass. It is not easy on anyone. Although I wouldnt hide it if that is how the barn wants it handled you have to respect their wishs. There is a group called hoof beats inheaven they are a good support when you loose a horses
First, take a deep breath. Your paragraph made me dizzy! Second, help the donkey and the little kids at the same time by taking the little ones to pay attention to the donkey. Can they ride her? Maybe she's a good choice for their lessons. As the older kid, it would be responsible and kind for you to explain to the little ones how sometimes death is a blessing for an old and sick or crippled animal and how the vet helped him pass in a peaceful way. It will be hard, but the young kids will look up to you and your friends for help. Good luck.
It's a sad story, but a fact of life. The little donkey is just adjusting to having her "buddy" move on. This is natural, and horses can sense certain things better than people can. If you want to pay some attention to the donkey, that would probably do her good; take her some carrots, a little grain, something like that...maybe give her a nice "brush down". As for the little kids...honesty is the best policy. Teach them now that all life comes to an end, the horse is happier now and in a better place. Hiding things like this is not good, because inevitably people find out and are upset, especially kids.
