What size blanket for my horse2007-11-24 21:21:57

hey,I know its a bit early for blanket shoppin but I was just wondering about what size blanket would fit my 16.1 broadish paint gelding. thanx!

Get a cloth tape measure and measure from the center of his chest around to the center of his tail. Be sure to fit the tape around the largest part of the shoulder and hip. (generally takes two people to measure accurately. Don't guess at the size, believe it or not, too small in the shoulders causes "blanket lameness."

Measure as dunascanbe described and then take a look at Petsmart as they are closing their Stateline tack departments. I went in today and sifted through a load of gear that's up to 50% off. It's hit and miss but there were blankets everywhere.

measure from the middle of the chest to the middle of the tail that will be the size.

measure your horse w/ a tape measure from the center of his chest around his belly to the point of his butt. that's what size you get for your horse. my 14.2 horse is a size 74 (measured in inches in us)
