What size horse should i get
i am 40.1kgs and about 150cm. i do eventing but am still confused about what size is best for me. i prefer slightly bigger than smaller. i have a really bad sence of measurement. if your about the same size as me or know what would be best please help me!!!
btw i'm 12 years old.
if you have an idea on breeds to that would be helpful. i like arabs and danish warmbloods.
Answers:A 15hh would be an ideal size for you right now. Even though you are only 12 a and 150cm high, a 15hh horse you can grow into(so to speak). I wouldnt go any smaller then 14hh as this would be way to small. My daughter is around your height and she is 10, she rides a 15hh horse and although she is a tad small for him, at least she wont grow to big for him.
The kind a horse to buy is really your preference if you like arabs, then go for an arab. They are of a fine build and as you are only small this would be okay. I think Arabs are pretty and proud horses. If you were to show, then I would get an arab, only because I feel that for your size it will be okay. But really any breed of horse would be okay. A QH is another good breed to have, as they are stocky and strong.
I have a TB and I find him okay, I think if you where to jump with your horse these breeds make a better show jumper. I see so many people that have them and do really well on them. I feel people these days, thinking that a TB are silly and that they are only good for racing. But like any horse you can use them for what ever you like. It really depends on your preference. I usually go for temperment and comformation later. Thats just me. Anyway good luck and hope you find the right horse.
HORSES GET MEASURED IN HANDS ,you need 10 hands
a little bit bigger than you.
well horses/ponies are measured in hands ~ anything smaller than 14.2 is a pony and bigger than 14.2 is a horse~
I would try one that would grow with you a pony may be a good for now but you will soon out grow it. Do not get a stallion or a thoroughbreed. Try a horse that is about 14.5-5 hands tall (a horse owner will know what that means). For breed, I would choose a quarter horse if you are not going to be specializeing in any one particular event. Stick with a horse that is mild tempered and choose one that is about 8-ish years old and sound.
