What size horses do you like to ride2007-11-24 21:21:58

I was just wondering, I like to find out random things like that about other people.

I'm around 5'5 and cannot feel comfortable riding anything smaller than 16hh, I prefer over 17hh if possible though, and solidly built, not skinny.

Answers:

I'm 5ft 6 and like you I don't like to ride small horses - I just don't feel safe on them. Mine are 17.2 and 18.2 and chunky with it which suits me fine.

A couple of years ago I rode my daughter's 15 hand horse - It felt like there was nothing there !

I love tall horses.. my first and second lesson horses that I rode were ponies and I never felt totally confident.. there was another horse that I rode once was 16 or 17 hh and acted up but I liked the height even if he did try to do the opposite of everything I wanted him to do..(I'm 5'3" and done growing) My neighbors sister has a gorgeous horse.. 2 of them actually andf the newewst one who is actually too old to ride was 17hh+ and I never got to ride him but I did go up on him and I loved it.. his name was Calvin Klein =]

i'm 5'7" and my horse is 14.3, but i used to take lessons on a 16.3 horse and almost bought a 16.1 hh horse. i rode those 2 horses for like 3 months, and when i went back to riding 14.3 horses, i felt so close to the ground almost like my feet were gonna touch it. i love riding tall horses!!!!!

try a sweet 16.5 hand horse. Mine is ADORABLE ands sweet. just like a dog and i swear im in love wit her...

I've ridden all sizes of horses, and I find that I prefer smaller horses, around 15.2-16.2. I do enjoy tall, leggy horses as well, but all in all, I prefer smaller, not too stocky but not too leggy horses.

I like to ride a horse 16 - 17 hands. Omg Jess, I feel terrible! My friend found a snotty answer of mine on Y! and she thought I was asking the question and she wrote "why did you tell people our trainer was dead? Also I really really really really really hate that Linz girl." Then I was like uh-oh, what did I do this time...so I went back, revised my answer, then emailed my friend and told her I didn't post the question,...I feel so bad still.

wow, I guess i never new horses were 16.5 Im pretty sure it goes 16.1 16.2 16.3 and then 17 hands.

14.2 - 16 hands, although I've ridden all sizes. Some of those really big guys can't get out of their own way.

I am 5'8 and my arabian mare is 15.6 We fit perfectly:)
