i just don't get it my riding instructor said there is no reason to use polos. so i was just wandering if anyone else had a different oppinion!

Answers:

Polo wraps when done correctly support both tendons and suspensory ligaments. They are used when a horse is either doing an activity which is stressful on the legs such as polo or racing or one that has had a prior injury and offers support and protection.

wraps for the legs
polo wraps can help add support to the front legs during the game's short stops. there is no immediate need for them but many owners prefer to be better safe than sorry and use them
I was going to link you to the Wikipedia article on polos, but it's about the worst explanation I've ever seen.

Using polo wraps is personal preference. I have always used polo wraps for that little bit of extra support. Since they're made of a stretchy nylon-type material, the support is minimal. Some people prefer them over boots because they can make a cleaner appearance than a clunky-looking boot. Dressage riders tend to prefer them, in my experience, because it is a less obtrusive method of support.

Just make sure that if you are using them, you know how to apply them correctly. Learning to do it properly can take time; it took me forever to get the hang of it. My general rule of thumb is even pressure (It's better if you wrap both front legs, as opposed to you doing one and a friend doing the other. One may be tighter or looser than the other, which can cause problems during the workout), and a finger comfortably fitting in the top of the bandage. Everyone has different methods; just find one that works best for you.
