Whats the best way to know
when to go into jumping position when going over your first jump.
the jump is about 50cm.
i know people say that just before is better but when your thinking about the other jumps and how to get over this one what helps to think about it.
nice answers only please.
i can jump and am very confident but theres always room for improvment please.
Answers:Well, if it's your first jump, you are probably on an experienced lesson horse who won't run out on you. So what's probably best for you to do it a few strides before the jump, go ahead and get into two point. That way, you won't feel rushed to get into 2 point when you get closer to the jump.
Unless you're on a horse that your riding instructor doesn't fully trust to jump the jump, though, don't go to two point early. If the horse drops their shoulder and ducks out right before the jump (which they shouldn't do if the jump is really that small), you might fall off if you're two point isn't extremely secure. Once you get more jumping experience under your belt, you'll learn how to feel when the horse is going to jump, so you can move with him.
I hope you do well! Once you start jumping, you never look back! (Haha! That was meant to be encouraging and it turned out as a pun! XD)
when the horse does, you should kinda feel it
move fluently with the horse. trust him. if you do too much, itll become probably harder for him and unnatural. go with the horse. have fun!!
when u feel the horse "tense" to jump is when u should get into ur jump position
When start to feel the horse getting ready, you should get into position too. When you are riding the horse, you should ride as one, fluent movement. So go as the horse goes.
The way I learned is closing your eyes like 10 seconds before you get to the jump, then when you feel your horse jump, go to jumping position.
(I don't know if this will work with low jumps...)
Good Luck!!
Sit Sit Sit My trainer always tells me that. She also says to let the horse push you up in to your position.
