Whats the difference between a livery pony and a school pony2007-11-24 21:22:41

I was on a local riding school website and it had prices for rides on a school Horse/Pony OR a livery horse/pony ?!

Answers:

If you keep a horse at livery, it means you board a horse with someone and they look after it. If he is at full livery the boarder would do all the work, feeding, grooming, mucking out, exercising, etc. etc. There is usually a half livery option, which means that you do some of the work, and the boarder does the rest, this arrangement can include using the pony for rides. It's a great option for someone who may be short of time or money, or both.

A school pony is one who is owned by the school.

livery pony - rented by the hour for trail/pleasure rides.

school pony - used for riding lessons.

The first one tastes like liver and the other doesnt.
i don't know what livery is, but school means their used for riding lessons.
as far as i know a school pony is owned by the school and a livery pony belongs to someone who boards it there but agrees for it to be used for so many rides per week
school horses are owned by the school, livery are owned by private people
LIVERY PONIES ARE BASICALLY JUST RENTAL PONIES- ANY ONE CAN RENT THEM, SO ALOT OF DIFFERENT AND UNEDUCATED PEOPLE HAVE PULLED ON HIS MOUTH, AND COMMITTED WHO KNOWS HOW MANY RIDING BLUNDERS WHILE ON HIS BACK. LIVERY PONIES JUST DO WHAT THEY MUST- GO WHERE THEY ARE PULLED, KICKED OR BULLIED INTO GOING BY WHOEVER IS ON THEIR BACK AT THE TIME-------SCHOOLING PONIES ARE VALUABLE TO NEW OR NOVICE RIDERS WHO TRULY CARE ABOUT LEARNING TO COMMUNICATE AND BECOME ONE WITH THEIR MOUNT. SCHOOLING PONIES ARE WELL TRAINED TO RESPOND TO CORRECT CUES, YET ARE VERY FORGIVING AND UNDERSTANDING TO THE SOMETIMES UNCERTAIN CUES THE RIDER MAY PROVIDE DURING LESSONS. SCHOOLING PONIES ARE USED FOR SCHOOLING NOVICE OR BEGINING RIDERS ON THE FINE ART OF RIDING-IF THAT IS YOUR INTEREST---------LIVERY PONIES ARE USED FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO PAY JUST TO GET ON A HORSE, AND DOES NOT INTEND TO DO ANYTHING RATHER THAN FEEL A HORSE UNDER THEM--DO NOT EXPECT LIVERY PONIES TO BE RESPONSIVE TO USUAL CUES, TOO MANY FOOLS ON THEIR BACKS- AND THEY ARE LIKELY TO HAVE TAUGHT THEMSELVES A NASTY TRICK OR TWO TO AVOID BEING RIDDEN-BUCKING, BALKING, BITING,RUBBING RIDERS OFF ONTO TREES/FENCES/BARN DOORS ETC. DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU YOURSELF WISH TO EXPERIENCE BY RIDING A HORSE AS TO WHICH TYPE WILL SUIT YOUR DESIRE.
