Nice has such a range - nice from I am going to train it myself to I want a proven winner. Set a budget first - then decide what horses fall into this category - older but proven, younger but untrained? Your trainer will be able to help you pick out a nice horse that suits you and your skill level. (And budget.) Remember to take into account body type (British classify their horses according to light, medium and heavy - make sure your body type suits your horse.) Also - this may sound awful, but it is true- if you want to win - you have to"match" your horse. If you are extremely tall and (not heavy) muscular you'll look silly on a delicate arabian and you won't win. Consider a 1/2 arabian cross if the arabian personalty is what you are striving for but you need a larger horse. Good luck and happy shopping. Remember - never buy with out a trial. If they won't let you lease or try out the horse for a couple of weeks (with proper legal papers of course) then don't buy it. There are plenty of quality owners who want the best home for their horse and are willing to make sure it is going to work well. Good Luck!
