Where can I find wooden poles to make jumps2007-11-24 21:22:50

I am making my own set of jumps and was just wondering where I could find wooden poles. I have heard that PVC pipe breaks if the horse hits them and I know Home Depot doesn't carry poles. Help please!

Answers:

Lowes. but try using PVC pipe its the safest for the horse(cant get splinters) its doesnt break aslong as you get a good thick peace. i go 10ft 3in and i have had mine for just about 4 1/2 years now and none have broken

lowe's? ace?

HOW CAN HOME DEPOT NOT HAVE THEM?!

Well then you probably need to get some lumber or dowel rods or you could pvc on a peg or string so it would just fall off the main part of the jump.

Both would be at a hardware store, Home Depot, and Lowes.

I have never heard of PVC pipe breaking, and 99% of the time jumps are made out of it. Sometimes I've heard of plastic fences breaking when its cold, which I guess could happen with PVC too, but you wouldn't want to jump your horse if it is that cold becuase the ground would be solid. PVC is very sturdy, but light enough to carry around. If you want wooden poles, I would think you need to buy them.

Plus, the pole would fall off if the horse hit it, or at least I hope you are designing it that way. Look for the metal or plastic jump cups, like these http://www.nextdayjumps.com/index/loc/ju... GOOD LUCK!

Dover Saddlery carries useful products/jumps.
