If your talking about round poles, you have to make them yourself or buy them. You would have to get like a bunch or "square" shaped wood and cut them. PVC does break, but it is so cheap and easy to replace. It is also easier on both you and the horse. If either of you were to fall into the jump, they are lighter and wont hurt as bad.
Home Depot does carry 4x4's work just fine we used them as kids made rails and jumps round fence post poles also
I have used landscaping timbers which any Home Depot or even some Wal-Marts will have them. They range about $5-7 per pole and how many you'll need just depends on how many jumps you want to set up.
Also check with local landscaping companies as sometimes they'll have used ones they pulled up from someones house to replace with nice clean ones and they might let you either have them or buy them CHEAP.

i would also reccomend PVC pipe, its easer to carry, dosent dry rot and it looks neeter.
