Where can i buy medicated salt rock lick for my horses
What type of medication do you want in your salt lick? Local feed stores sell salt with iodine, minerals and a few other various addictives, but I don't think they have medicated licks for horses. And you do not want to buy a salt lick that is formulated for cattle, sheep or goats as they have different compositions and can be dangerous and even deadly for another species.
As a nurse I would think a lick would be a very difficult way to get medication into your horse. If they licked alot one day they could overdose and if they choose to not lick for a few days in a row they would get nothing.
I would talk to several local vet clinics and see if they can give you information on whether such things exist, and where you could find them. Even if the vet himself did not carry that product he could probably refer you to someplace that did.
If you are needing to give your horse a specific medicine, and you don't want to give him injections, then be aware that many different meds can be given orally. One of my Paint geldings hated shots, but was a greedy kinda guy, so I was able to mix powder antibiotics into his grain (I added a little cooking oil first so the powder sticked and didn't just sit at the bottom of his feed tub) and he ate it that way. You can also give alot of medications by grinding them up and mixing them with something such as applesauce and squirting it in their mouth in a method similiar to worming a horse.
