I assume this is a heritage breed of livestock. You can go to the Heritage Breed Conservancy. http://www.nehbc.org/ Here is a link to their marketplace: http://www.nehbc.org/market.html... If they don't have what you want for sale, they can probably locate it.
If you go to your county office. Ask them if they have past brands from the ranches in the area. Any ranch brand should be registered to be considered "legal". Tell them you are family and are doing something for fathers day and need to see or copy the brang. Good luck!
Most states have a brand inspection service, usually a part of your state department of Agriculture. These folks should have the records of any brand that was registered in that state. In Colorado each county has a brand inspector and they have brand books that you can research.
