Which Stable Should I Ride At2007-11-24 21:22:54

Hello, Im 13 years old, and quite frankly, I am a pretty good rider. However, I cant choose between two barns. Heres the first:

It is a nice barn, but really isnt top notch. The instructor though is amazing. Whenver I go though, the trainer likes for me to clean stalls, groom horses, which I have been doing for quite a while and am tired of. She also has nice horses, and has connections with Olympic riders.

The second:

This is the nicer barn, and the trainer has many connections around Kentucky, and extremly well trained horses. He doesnt seem to teach as well as my other trainer though. It is a full service barn though, in which he tacks up the horse, etc.

Its a hard decision, and I would like some input.

the first one looks nice but its your choice,you have to make that decision,do you want to compete in the future,or do you want to just learn all the basics ,

i always go on the reputation of a riding school,talk to people in your area and see what they say.

riding horses is not what its about learning the care of them is an important part of owning a horse.

most teenagers started like your doing ,i live in the uk but in our riding schools the kids pay to ride but also learn how to look after a horse

Cleaning stalls comes with riding horses! Go with the best instructor - what you will learn will stay with you forever. While having a horse ready to ride may be nice, it is not and will never be the mark of a true horseperson. To clean, care for, groom, tack and ride will teach you more than you can ever imagine. You will learn so much more about responsible horse ownership doing these "mundane" chores than you can imagine.
