Which would you use?

Loose Ring Snaffle

(Quality Nickel over Brass. 4 1/2" mouth peice with 1 3/4" rings)

Sweet Iron Dee Ring

(3" Stainless steel Dees. 5" wide sweet iron mouth peice creates saliva for a moist soft mouth & has copper inlay which gives the horse a sweet taste)

I would really like to use the Loose Ring Snaffle since I already have it. But I have had other people tell me the Sweet Iron Dee Ring is a better bit. I would really hate to purchase ANOTHER bit. He does ok with the loose ring snaffle but I think he might do better with the Sweet Iron Dee Ring. I just want whats best for him. In your opinion which is better?

Oh & I pleasure ride & occasionally barrel race.

One more question...

On the Loose Ring Snaffle & the Sweet Iron Dee ring would you tighten them until you see 2 wrinkles?

I would go with the Sweet Iron Dee Ring simply because it would be better for your horse and it is just a better product. It is worth the extra money. You and your horse will be happy with it. Oh and yes you should tighten then until two wrinkles. Hope this helped!

I'd go with the sweet iron. Even though horses prefer nothin in their mouth, may as well use what they will most likely accept and work well with. It's worth the money.. and you'll have two bits . :-) It is more like a treat for him rather than just a piece of steel. They make a nice copper mouth with a couple rollers on the mouthpeice, which seems to help relax them, too. Good luck!
