While I ride my horse and she poops she stops she wont countine2007-11-24 21:22:55

I want her to keep going...not stop! What if she does that in the show???? :(( i could kick-squeeze-nudge and she still wont move! HELP ME PLEASE!

i understand your problem. i used to ride an old cranky pony that was the same way. First of all it is no problem at all for a horse to move an poop at the same time. i have riden many horses that walk, trot, canter, and even jump while pooping. if she doesnt listen to your leg at all then carry a crop or whip. give her a few good taps to get her moving. if this doesnt work then i would suggest using spurs. of course if the horse freaks out about spurs then dont use them. also you have to be in complete control of your lower leg to use spurs. i cant use spurs because sometimes my foot turns outward and that would jab the horse in the side. also if you use spurs, dont kick the horse as hard as you can with them... just nidge her and the spurs will get the point across.

if this still doesnt work, then only as a last resort i would suggest a person on the ground helping with a lunge whip to encourage her to move forward. i hope this helps =]

You have to insist then - carry a riding crop and use it to back up your leg commands when she decides to ignore you, it's just a habit and I bet she doesn't do that in the field.

maybe u should at least let the horse go before the show then it won't have to go again.

Let her stop to poop. If she doesn't go on command after that, I would invest in a crop.

she just hasnt learned that she has to keep moving even though she dosent want to. use a rideing crop or kick her a little harder when she does that, that's how i handle it and i'm a horse trainer.

You might want to use a crop. I hate how my horse does that. But you just need to constantly work at it.

Try to squeeze her with your legs, or ever so gently kick her, if that doesn't work than get a crop and tap her with it, after you have squeezed her with your leg.
