If doing that doesn't work I would use spurs. If that still doesn't work then while she is pooping have someone on the ground lead her forward with a whip. You will not even place if you horse does this in the show. Don't give up. If she does this in practice she WILL try and get away with it in the show ring. You have to show her who is boss.

If you let your horse get away with these little things she is going to try and get away with more. You have to be agressive with a horse like this. My horse used to do this to me only he wouldn't poop he would just refuse to go forward and I was in the middle of the ring in front of a huge crowd. Make sure that she won't do it again before going into a show. Do whatever it takes to get her to go forward. Don't give up and good luck.

You are exactly right-- pooping in the show ring is a bad habit itself but STOPPING to poop in a show ring is worse! Generally most horses know better than to stop in the show ring but just in case you come across this you should know how to handle it.

First off when you FIRST notice her slowing down or pooping you should immediatly jump and nudge.kick.squeeze. If that doesn't work after the first few times DONT keep doing it-- just sitting there and kicking a stubborn pony that isn't moving DOES NOT look good to the judges-- your aids to keep the horse going should be almost unnoticeable to them...a little tap on the rump from a crop is always better than sitting and kicking or if she is that stubborn some blunt spurs are NICER to the horse but still make them up and go-- they are less noticeable too.

Make sure you don't wait until she is stopped all the way to get at her, jump at the problem quickly and tackle it before it gets to that point =)
