Who do you think is smarter Mare, Stallion or Gelding2007-11-24 21:22:56

stallions: have way to much u no what on their minds

mares: have attitudes and can be nasty

gelding: calm, nice over all perfect

I own all of them and work with them all in different age groups. My two best were geldings cut at 2 months of age. Plenty of size and muscle on both, [don't know where this geldings aren't able to develop fully if cut early stuff comes from] and just stuffed to the ears with sense... I'll take a gelding to train any day. I think any smart horse trains easy and those come in every sex. I DO think people have a preference for a particular sex and that they find that one to be the easiest to train... it's the affinity that creates the click. Our current stallion learns as easy as if he was born with it, knows when to be a stud and when to be a show horse. Our young stallions are smart as firecrackers and pick up stuff faster than I do, and don't seem to lose this when cut. We normally cut about 2 years of age, just get the occasional hard case that isn't going to survive babyhood with the jewels intact. I find mares can be as hormonal as the day is long and a trial to train...my preference is the geldings, so I find them easiest to train.
no offence but i think the geldings r the smrtest...the dont rlly act up as much but its ur choice...owell
I think it's pretty much a good generalization but it changes from discipline to discipline.

On the trail, you can NEVER relax on a stallion...never. A mare tends to be hormonal and can have that "mare to mare" bitchiness...but a good ol' gelding, he's the same ride every day.
