Has anyone ever rode a Fell Pony?? If you have how was the ride?? What did you think?? Just looking into one. Thank You
Answers:i rode fell ponies as a child they have short strides they are very hardy and sure footed,
i used to hack the one i rode out,he would jump little gorse bushes and he made me laugh when he saw a puddle as he would shy to the side and i nearly fell off.
they are great little ponies ,and they prefer living outdoors all year round,they grow a thick winter coat to protect them from the elements,so you don't have to rug them.
They come from the area of Yorkshire that I'm from. They are very popular back in England and supposed to be ideal "family" horses because they can carry weight, are hardy and have suitable temperaments for kids. Yorkshire can be pretty brutal in the winter and they have adapted to survive up there on the moors. They are stunning when shown in breed classes. Have never ridden one but seen a few up on the moors.
