Why are we required to have a stud chain over our horses noses while doing showmanship at fair

i hate having to use a stupid stud chain over my horses nose for showmanship at fair. She is such a good horse and doesnt need it. i do parelli and can control her with out a halter even on. so why should some people have to use a chain on a horse when they dont need to? get this , a while ago it was not allowed to use a chain in showmanship because they thought it was cruel. But now you have to.hmmmm. is that even reasonable?? just becaues some people cant control their horses without one doesnt mean everyone else should have to use one too.

Well what do you think of this matter? Are you with me or do you like to be like those people who have to use a stud chain to "control their horse"

That is amazing - I'd like to talk to the fair board that made the rule. Are there any horse people on that board? Did some horse run away in past years and run over an innocent spectator? WHERE would such a pointless rule come from, except an uneducated (horse-wise) individual? I would want to address the board on this matter, as the rules are written for the benefit of the exhibitors, and this should be at your discretion. I could sooner see a fair board banning them than requiring them.

One way you could get by this (a bit anyway) is to run the chain under the chin and then through the ring under the jaw. If your halter fits properly, this will keep the chain from being directly against her jaw. Depending on the halter, you can run it down through the left side ring, through the under-jaw ring and wrapped back around it, and then up through the right ring and back to the crown ring. If you could raid a show lead from a baby or yearling halter, the chains are much more petite and this would work even better.
