bad about it damaging the teeth possibly, it CAN be serious if let go, maybe give him some stimulation away from where he's cribbing, a carrot tied to a section of fencing, dangle freely so it takes him time to get it, or go to walmart n get one of those big balls like 2ft wide and really bouncy , also u could put vinegar on the section he's cribbing on, or some thing sour or bitter to deter him from it

Cribbing is caused by boredom. Make sure the horse has plenty of turnout. Cribbing can cause major problems. Back issues are a major issue and colic and maintaining weight are others. Get the Miracle Collar - it does work.

Horses crib because of boredom and the horse was possibly weened to early and then it does it because it sucks in the air and it makes it feel full. The long term effects are that the horses teeth wear down and it makes it hard for them to eat! It is serious. There are collars and muzzles that you can buy to put on your horse to keep it from cribbing. You can also have surgery done on the horse to make it stop. its not very serious but you will want to stop it before the horse gives itself colic and it cribs because its bored and has either been cooped up in its stall too long or if it becomes lonley

That's an excellent question. I have a cribber. Cribber's are known for hard keepers. Why? Because they grab hold of something...fence, feed bucket etc. They suck in air and this might cause colic or digestive problems. Get a good cribbing collar. This will control their habit. The habit itself might be caused by bordom.

I have been lucky. My cribber has never coliced and he is a nice weight. Good luck.
