Why do people believe that those who give strongly worded answers are hypocrites
This question is directed primarily at Anthony M. I gave the response I did to that 12 year old's question because I am a trained professional who has seen first hand what can happen when young, ignorant kids engage in "cowboying around" and running on a horse. There have been far too many kids who have been hurt and sometimes KILLED, doing just that for me to ignore what that little girl was saying. Running a saddle horse IS DANGEROUS, Anthony. As for your statement that the girl's dad could be allowing her to do this, I can only say that I hope it isn't true, because if she ever falls and gets seriously hurt, he could be charged with crimminal neglect and abuse for permitting behavior that he knows very well is dangerous. In his case, that would mean a well deserved jail sentence, and his daughter ending up in foster care. Is that what you want? Saddle horses are never fit to run- they aren't strong enough. Leave racing to the race track and the pros.
Answers:I went back and read the question and the answer you gave. And I agree with you. I raise horses and have kids. And if my kids every pulled that kind of stunt, they would get a whipping they would never forget. And my horses and children are just to valuable to me to see either one hurt or abused in any manner. I have seen to many horses ruined and sometimes nearly run to death by spoiled kids and ignorant parents. "Cowboy around'? There is not a true cowboy (or horseperson for that matter) that would do this to their horse. The problem. You did not ask this question first. "Do you really want my opinion, or do you just want me to tell you what you want to hear?" That way you know if they are really wanting an answer or just a sugar coating.

People want someone to back them up, not confront them. I get that all the time answering sensitive questions, people want a pat on the back and 'it's okay, you keep doing that even though it's wrong' and they get mad if anyone has the guts to call them out and say it IS wrong.
