Why do people believe that those who give strongly worded answers are hypocrites2007-11-24 21:23:20

I feel sorry for those horses who, for whatever reasons don't get a chance to stretch their legs, and blow the cobwebs away. I'm not trying to be controversial at all, but I really don't understand it.

i was brought up by my grandparents and my grandfather was a horseman by trade with shire horses amongst others, and there were many times that i heard of people being hurt because innocent accidents happened during everyday work.

most people look at a horse and they see it as a lovely pretty gently thing, and they think it is ok to be idiot around them. i was brought not to fear them but to respect horses regardless of their size as all can be dangerous, i have seen people killed in their horses stalls because they let their guard down and was careless.

i used to sit on horses backs when i was young and i will admit that i used to go and ride one filly that was unbroken when it was in its field but that was then and i was young and it could have beeen very dangerous if it wasnt for the special bond this horse and i had, we have all been careless at some point and done things we shouldnt, and now as a parent myself i look back on those things and am blooming determined to make sure my children are not put in harms way at all.

my children have respect for horses and do not fear them and they know how dangerous they can be and never go to them unsupervised. if they ever went to them in the field they would be in big trouble and they certainly never ride unless i am present. their safety comes first as i am sure many would be the same so how anyone could let a child run a saddle horse i will never understand, i mean do they know dangerous horses are?
