Why do people believe that those who give strongly worded answers are hypocrites2007-11-24 21:23:20

I do know however as an equine professional and someone who has to have a legal team because I run a NARHA facility and have foster children that the father of this child would not go to jail because his daughter was improperly riding this horse. If every parent had to account for any dangerous stunt that a child pulled- CPS would be flooded. A child can get hurt doing any sport and just because the parent permits the child to do a sport doesn't mean that when that said child gets a broken arm from playing football or from falling off a horse that the child's parents are going to jail or that the child is going to foster care.

I'm not saying that what she was doing isn't dangerous, but maybe your comment was a bit twarted and incorrect. CHILD ENDANGERMENT laws apply when a parent knowingly put's their said child into an ILLEGAL act such as child pornography, prostitution, drug deals, or knowing handing their child over to a sexual predator or a sexual or physical abuser.

I do however agree with you on your main point that people get bent out of shape when their beliefs are challenged on this site. A girl posted a picture of a horse she wanted- she asked what people thought and everyone replied or the horse is so beautiful- get her. I gave her my honest opinion as both a veterinarian and equine professional- the horse was out of balance, weak in the loin, neck didn't tie into the shoulder, the horse was pigeon breasted, and the horse stood as if she wasn't sound. The question poster of course had something to say and then chose the answer that said- oh she's great. Just as I'm sure you'll most likely get upset and have some ill hated words toward me for challenging you on your point. I'm not on here to sit back and agree with the flock, I come on here, give my honest advice and facts to back it up and if I get some hate mail- so what.I come on here to burn off my excess energy anyway. So bring on the hate mail.

I think part of the problem with this open forum is that anyone can answer, and most people that do probably believe they are correct in their answer, or they wouldn't be giving it. That said, we all have different personalities and bad days, and it is easy to take it all out on a stranger - especially one that in a your opinion is an idiot. I, too, wish all of the contributors would be positive - we all know that ain't gonna happen as we are humans. I would be happy if the cussing and name calling would stop, and would learn to deal with the rest. I keep coming back because the information is usually pretty good if you use common sense. I learn something every day, and I enjoy when I get a message back that something worked for another rider. In my opinion that is why we should all be here, to make the horse scene a better place for all involved. Remember the whole world is watching us here - let's not make a bad name for ourselves.

I also agree that many of the askers are just wanting confirmation that they are right on a topic. I think this site is clogged with questions about an opinion on horses, that no real horseman would give based on a picture and a brief description. I'd like to ban the "please help me name my horsie" questions, too, but since I am not required to open them or respond I just move on. I try to keep in mind there is something for everyone here, and remember a time when I spent a lot of energy thinking up horse names. My friend and I had a book of over 500 when we were about 10 years old - a very fond memory...
