Why does my horse2007-11-24 21:23:01

Why when I try to run my horse he starts to crow hop and and kind of buck with me. He is 8 yrs old, non registered, walker/mixed breed. When we trot or gallop he does just fine, he is kind of high strung at times and gets excited about different things. Do you think it would be because he gets worked up and excited? What can I do to fix this issue?

Try lunging him for 30 mins before you ride to get the buck out of him.

I had a horse that did the same thing. I'm assuming that he isn't trying to buck you off. He is probably just doing it out of excitement. As long as you aren't getting the idea that he is trying to get you off his back, don't worry about it. I don't know if there is any way to fix it because I never worried about it with my horse. Whenever we were out and I started to run him, he'd get excited and crow hop. It was completely innocent and I thought it was fun! If you want to correct the problem, I suggest contacting a trainer.

hes exited that your letting him let his energy out so he takes it to the best advantage. you can lunge him before riding to help get his energy and normal :D

First, are you sure it's not a medical / physical issue? He's not in any kind of pain? His tack fits properly?

If you are positive it's none of the above then the best thing you could do is get yourself some lessons. A good instructor could tell you what they think is wrong and how to fix it better then i can. Becasue i cant see the problem.
