Wintec 500 or 2000 saddle with CAIR system2007-11-24 21:23:25

i wasnt trying to come off as snobby/rich...simply because i own an expensive saddle should not make you think that i am either...they are expensive saddles, yes, but they are well worth the investment as they last for years and years to come. if budget is an issue, save money for something that is a little higher quality if it is something that you truly would like...i am by no means rich and like to think that i am not snobby...i suppose i just have expensive taste

o yea, if you really want the wintec and its right for you, then go for it! as with all saddles, try it first if you have this opportunity with you on it and also on your horse for a fitting to see how it would work. as with everything, saddle brand is simply a preference and opinion.

unlike the gal above,

I ONLY own Wintec saddles and love every one of them. I have a 500 CAIR and its 2 yrs old - ride in it 6 days a week and still looks almost new.

Every month we hose them off and dry with a towel - no leather conditioner or elbow grease needed

Wonderful Wonderful saddles and HIGH QUALITY for the low cost (ok, so the expensive ones are NICE but only the snobby and/or rich can afford them)

I have both the Wintec 500 and 2000 and they are both really nice saddles. Synthetic does not necessarily mean cheap, although people will try to tell you so. The Cair system is nice and all Wintecs come with the gullet change system allowing you to widen or narrow your saddle to better fit your horse. The 2000 is a much nicer seat than the 500. I also have the Wintec bridles and girths.. Time is money and I save a ton of time by just being able to hose everything off, it gives me more time to do all the other horsie chores!!
Wintecs are great, the leather never wears out. The CAIR system is great for the horse so you only have to get your size and you can just change the gullet. They clean easily too. They are the best saddles ever made!
I think you should take your horse to a qualified saddle fitter, then you can try on and ride in a variety of different saddles and see which best suits/fits your horse. I find its pointless to decide on a saddle first as all makes of saddle don't fit all horses. ( I tried on about 20 saddles before I found on that fitted my mare- wintec didn't fit at all- and I ended up paying more than originally planned)
