Wintec or abetta (info from ppl that have actually ridden in or own one of these plz)2007-11-24 21:23:25

i wnat to get a synthetic saddle to use for just general everday riding (not shows). I ride western. Which saddle would you recomend? Either one really have major problems? thanks

I own wintec english and western saddles

Wintec saddles have synthetic leather. Looks and feels like leather but easier to keep clean and maintained (just hose off, wash with soap and rinse)

Abetta is made of Cadura neoprene and is a soft material. Nothing like leather but maintains well and also easy to clean with a hose and scrub brush.

I prefer the leather feel - so I buy Wintec

(and those that complain about a saddle (of any kind) hurting their horse - most didn't have a proper fitting saddle to begin with (they may have thought it fit, but it didn't obviously))

Remember though - within the same manufacturer different saddles of the same size can fit differently. It may be worth having a saddle fitter come to be sure the saddle fits correctly and the right pad is being used.

I don't know much about abetta, but I LOVE wintecs. Super comfy! Easy to clean. Look nice.

I have owned abetta western and wintec english's. Both are very nice saddles for the money. I had no problems with the abetta, the wintec english-I was never able to cinch up tight enough, but my friends were.

I had a Wintec saddle , a Dressage saddle, with CAIR panels - and it completely ruined both my horses' backs, even though it fit fine. One horse needed 7 months off to recoupe, the other has been off for 16 months now and is still unridebale his back is so screwed up.
