I have serious reservations about riding with laceups. If you get in a bind and hung up, laceup boots do not come off your feet. I know your in a money crunch, but if you really want those boots, please look into getting breakaway stirrups. Its just a safety thing and have seen draggings and *shivers*

I know Dover has some that don't lace up, my friend purchased them, but they are more money. What I have done typically is just my big old boots that I buy at Cabellas and add feet warmers to them. They will slip off in a bind, no doubts and the added warmer packets makes it comfortable for 8hrs.

I used to have a pair of Army boots that my dad wore in Korea, they were great. You could check out an Army surplus store for some Army boots, but I'm not sure if the quality of modern combat boots is the same since the Army now gets their stuff from China.
I have worn Mountain Horse winter riding boots in 40 below weather and while the rest of me was FREEZING my feet were toasty, mind you that was before global warming, just kidding.

i've done a lot of research myself in this area and I think the Ariat's are the best. Mountain Horse are also good. Enjoy!
I had the Ice High Rider by Mountain Horse. They were about $110 and I absolutely loved them. They kept me really warm, especially in the northeastern snow.
