Would this be a good saddle to buy
http://www.greenhawk.net/cgi-local/softc... i be able to use it for jumping? how about using it in shows?
Answers:No. Cheap tack is exactly that - cheap. If you cannot afford good quality new, get a good quality used saddle. Most cheap saddle like that are not balanced for the rider and many times don't fit the horses well. Also, cheap leather will be difficult to break in and probably not last long. Look for used saddles like Courbette, Crosby, Beval, Bates, Stubben, and many others. Or, if you want an affordable new saddle, look at the Wintec Close Contact...they run under $500 and have interchangeable gullets so they adjust to different horses. Oh, and that is an "All-Purpose" type saddle. All Purpose means No Purpose. Most AP saddle don't put your leg in the correct position for jumping or dressage work, so if you want to jump, get aClose Contact saddle...you will be much happier in one. If you need any more info, just add to your question.
It looks like a nice saddle. But for jumping ?It looks more like a dressage saddle, the flaps look a little long, dosn't look like a close contact saddle. But maybe it's just made different?
One thing to look at is it depends how big your horse is.(Will it fit the horse) I'd be suspicious about it meaning maybe you want to check it out a little more before you make your final decision. Choose Well and Hope this helped!
The advert says 'English' saddle, but I can tell you that it is not! It's cheaply made, in Argentina, using poor quality leather. They are sold over here in England too, but only at auctions, where people who know no better buy them.
It's badly made, and will not help your position when riding. It could end up hurting your horse and costing you much more in the long run.
Do yourself a favour, save up for a real quality saddle. It needn't be brand new. Get a qualified saddle fitter to ensure it's correct for you and your horse...
