Would you breed a HYPP neg, positive or N/H horse2007-11-24 21:23:30

I am very against this practice. I am wanting to know from those that do or have had, why would you do this? I just don't understand breeding something so horrible into a horse and making that horse suffer. I know the Impressive horses are beautiful to look at but is it worth your horses life of pain for a few AQHA points?

Answers:

Ok, NO, I would not breed that. But I do have to make a note, Impressive horses are very versatile. Did anyone know that an Impressive horse made it to the NFR? Just check that out if you are a none believer of what they can do! I have owned and still own some N/N Impressive horses. Yes, they are pretty to look at, and not to be ignored... however, you need to look at the DNA, I have heard many things and have heard many reasons for breeding to a N/H horse... in my own standpoint... I'll own a N/N, but downbreed from the Impressive line.. Maybe I'm ignorant for those big on the lineage but that is my personal feeling. I know people are breeding them left and right and are probably way more knowledgeable about the defect than I will ever be. I do know there's good Impressive horses, N/N, that should not be ignored and plenty of good blood in all aspects of the QH that could benefit from some of the Impressive blood. Don't frown on such a wonderful sire, just breed away from the problem!

i personally do not like the impressive line. the horses are just eye candy. have you ever seen them poor halter horses run? thats right, you havent, because they dont even know how to. same with how those western pleasure horses have been bred. and for that hypp thing, that just adds to the reason not to breed. horses are a majestic graceful animala, halter horses, well they are a walking breething breyer horse.
aww a genetic defect
