Ya know those old mare hollows above the eye
the hollows above the eye that normally come on old mares, is that normal to have on a 6 year old mare?
Answers:Hollows above the eye are normal but not just on mares. All horses can have them, each horse can have them differently then others too. Some small factors that contribute are age and weight but even a young horse of perfect weight can have them. To "I love RV" um you say it has nothing to do with age...but can appear later in a horse's life...? doesn't that mean since the horse is older and it appears it had a little something to do with age? Just wondering what you meant by that I guess.
Yea actually I think it is because e have 6 yr old racehorse mare and she is hollowed. Nothing wrong with it and pretty normal. Hope I helped
yes the hollows are natural, althouhg they should be there they shouldn't be TOO deep that mean that your horse is WAY to skinny (but you would probably be able to tell that..) and they shouldn't be compleatly filled in, even super fat horses have those so if there are none somethings not right
anyway...! it IS normal dont worry!
It depends on the horse. Some have more fat there vs other horses.
I have seen it on all different ages and never use it as a aging tool.
zygomatic arch
The bone at the side of the skull which forms an arch from beneath the orbit to a position toward the back of the head. It is composed of the maxilla, jugal, and squamosal bones, but may be incomplete. The main chewing (masseter) muscle is attached to the zygomatic arch.
