This 9 feet, 1 inch - 97 pound rattlesnake was found at the J & S Quik Mart located

south of RR 3014 Turnoff on Highway 281 south of Tow, Texas (just west of Burnett, Texas)

And here's how to cook 'em...

DEEP-FRIED RATTLESNAKE

1 medium-sized rattlesnake (3-4 lbs.), cut into steaks

1/2 cup flour

1/4 cup cornmeal

1/4 cup cracker crumbs

1/2 cup milk

1 egg

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (not garlic salt)

1 teaspoon salt

dash pepper

Mix dry ingredients. Whisk milk into beaten egg and use to dip snake steaks.

Then coat them with dry ingredients. Fry, uncovered, in 400 degree oil until brown.

Actually it was 98 pounds he gained a pound since I killed it. Must be blood clotting the doctor said, and it wasn`t in Kansas, it was in California, Fresno/Visalia area. Is there anything else you want to know about it?

The average Rattle snake in Kansas is 3-5 feet tops, you can't pack 97 pounds into that. The biggest one I have ever personally heard of (NOT SEEN) was a 6 1/2 footer that was nabbed out by Kanopolis Lake when I was just outta high school and that was a long time ago.

There is no way a rattle snake could weigh 97 pounds unless someone filled it with lead after it was dead. It was probably a Burmese python escaped from someones cage. I had a Burmese that was over 20 feet long and tipped the scales at 101 lbs. It looked like a short telephone pole.
