Advice about hatching snapping turtles and how to save disrupted eggs2007-11-24 1:47:05

The other day my dad was doing some digging in the yard and accidentally hit some small little eggs and as he looked closer he began to realize that they were turtle eggs and some of the eggs that had been badly cracked open had the trutles starting to try and crawl and move about but they still had sacs attached to them. Not sure if some these eggs had already broken open before he hit them or not though... but I do know that he cracked about seven of them but the rest were okay. So we moved okay ones into a pan filled with clay that their were originally sitting in (as he had no choice but to continue digging where he was digging at) and sat the partially hatched ones in a seperate deep pan of clay and lightly covered both of the sets of the eggs back over. as for the three that have completly lost their shell my dad decided that it might be good idea to place them in this very shallow little man made pond (like thing) that we have near our house and cover it with a tarp.
