I really wanted a snake, but my mom said there's no way that's gonna happen. I want to know if there are any easy to handle, and easy to care for reptiles that you could reccomend. please?

Answers:

bearded dragons are low maintenance and easy to care for. they are reccomended for beginners, too! all you need is a tank 40 gallons and up, some food (www.beautifuldragons.com for ideas), substrate (preferably anything but wood chips or sand), a UVA/UVB light, a basking light, and some calcium dust for crickets.

Regular temperature should be between 85 and 95 degrees, and the basking temp should be 105-115 degrees F.

Buy a digital thermometer for each side of the tank, and a humidity guage to monitor humidity levels within the tank. lights need to be on for 12 hours a day, and you should buy a timer to do this. all lights can be turned off at night as long as the night temps are no lower than 65 degrees.

if you have any questions, send me an email. =]

Well...compared to dogs, cats and small animals, reptiles in themselves ARE all easy to keep. If you want a small snake that is docile and easy to care for...get a ribbon snake. They don't need to eat mice. They will eat small goldfish from their water dish whenever they are hungry. All they need is aspen bedding and a proper heat source. And they can be kept in a small tank, maybe up to 15 gallons, and the snake itself is usually inexpensive and rarely grows to be more than 3 or 4 feet.
Try like some kind of lizzard.

Most reptiles are easy but you have to have certain light and warmth and it does cost money. i havent even had my iguanas 3 weeks yet and i couldnt tell you how much money i've spent. and whatever you do get a book on the repitile.
