I'm considering purchasing a baby bearded dragon, and have been doing some research in books and on the internet, but would just like some opinions from people who actually have them. Is there a an agression difference between males and females? Or is one more territorial than the other? Is keeping just one an okay thing, or do they do better in pairs? Any information would be helpful.

Answers:

I own a female and I would say to keep them housed separately if you are going to get more than one so there is no aggression issues. Also keeping multiple animals together can lead to health issues, if one gets sick it will pass it to the other animal. My female is quite hand able and enjoys sitting on my shoulder daily while I watch TV. She went to the vet for a check up and was the star of the office everyone wanted to play with her. Just be mindful that when you get a baby ensure you are feeding crickets no larger than the space between there eyes and keep them off sand when real young to prevent impaction problems. I still keep my girl on paper towels as I had a friend who had one get impacted from sand. Check out kingsnake.com they have a great Beardie forum.

No, they should be housed alone to prevent domination and fighting. Both are good tempered. Here are a couple of great sites:

Well I'm not sure if I'm qualified to answer this both of mine died but of what I remember they do good either separate or apart. If you get a male and a female your going to eventually need 2 cages as they need to be separated at times. your going to need a hot rock, lots of sand for the female (if you get one) and an air bubbler for the water dish because bearded dragons can't see anything if it's not moving!
i would keep them apart because last time i put a female and male together, the male bit off part of the females tail.
