Any suggestions about iguana cages2007-11-24 1:47:10

well ive got a 6 month old iguana i adopted him n ive had him for like 4 months,my thing is i wann abuilsd him a bigger cage so he can be happier n everyweb site ive been on doesnt give good advice or u have 2 buy it,what type of things should i bee buyimng..i want my cage 2 be 6 ft tall,4 ft long ,n 30 in sid 3 side.i just wanna set my ig up n i dotn know wher 2 start ..ne advice?

go to the iguanaden.org or google iguana housing thats how we got the plans for our ig house, we made ours 8 ft. long, by 3 ft. deep by 7 ft. high, with 2 big swing doors on the front. check it out, the plans we got are really specific, & well worded.

I built mine out of pvc pipe, plastic mesh and cable ties. Just build each section separately then lash the whole thing together! Don't forget to make a large door.

An iguana's cage floor or aquarium bottom can be covered with clean newspaper (unprinted preferably) or butcher paper. The next best material is indoor-outdoor carpeting. Paper towel squares can also be placed end to end to cover the entire bottom of the enclosure. When one of the squares becomes soiled, it can be easily removed and replaced without disturbing the entire floor of the enclosure. Under no circumstances should pea gravel, corncob material, wood shavings, sand, kitty litter or sawdust be used. None of these items promote adequate cleanliness, and they may be eaten while the iguana is feeding, resulting in intestinal impaction.
