How often do snakes shed
if the guy who works at a zoo is giving incorrect info on such a simple topic then im a bit worried about the quality of the keepers that zoos are hiring these days.
the only correct answer would be as often as needed..
many things come into factor.. such as growth rate, species, if there is any sort of wound or parasites such as mites, or a recent birth.
for instance i have a sub adult Green tree python who sheds every month like clockwork and then i have a adult carpet python who sheds maby 3 or 4 times a year tops. the reason for this is that the adult is not growing any more so there is not such a need for it..
also at work we have a Colombian rainbow boa who just had baby's and she has shed 3 times in 2 months.. its got to be like a record or something i swear.
different rates for differen't snakes. it all depends on what type of snake it is.
Seasonally -- every three months.
every month
twice a year
i have 2 snakes and they shed about every 21/2 to 4 months depending on how much thy ate. they eat more in the summer so shed more than the winter.
The guy with the profile Meaningle endeaver is correct but he forgot to mention that age and environment makes the difference too. Just like people babies grow faster than adults, and the proper humidity and temp will be important to the snake.
as often as they grow, the more they shed the bigger they get!!
