I want to get a pet snake Does anyone have any good arguements for getting one2007-11-24 2:01:05

I would tell you to take your mom to a Trade show where there are a lot of reptiles which you and your mom and decide on there is a big trade show called The North American Reptile Breeders Conference and Trade Show and you can find info. on that at NARBC.com so that is an idea well i wish you luck convincing your mom

Well, I don't have any good arguments FOR getting one, but I have plenty of good reasons NOT to. First off, why the heck do you want a snake in the first place. Let's check our options, a slimy, icky, slithery snake, or a fluffy, soft, fuzzy dog/cat. I see your point. Just kidding around.

Your mom says that the snake will "get away and die in the walls" of your house. This summer, a cat in New York City was stuck in a wall for two weeks without food or water. If a cat could survive, a snake could easily live off of mice, rats, unsuspecting squirrels, etc. Of course, it sounds like your mom is just grossed out by snakes. I'd advise you not to get one, or it might just "disappear" one day while your in school.

I can tell you its not that good. My teacher had 4 sons and they had a pet snake that was like 3 feet big!! It could have grown longer!

But anyways you have to deal with dead mice,fronze mice or alive. Plus the chance of it strangling one of your other pets, Like small dogs,cats,bunnies or someing like that.

The closet thing I ever had and still do is a Tortise. Small N Slow

Snakes are escape artists. Having a screen top is no guarantee. I have had secure tops & the snakes pushed the tops off the tank! They are quite strong. Several breakouts over the years I had them.

Whatever happens, at some point, if you keep snakes,

one will get loose. No question about it.

THEY ARE CHEAPER TO FEED THAN DOGS AND CATS.EASIER TO CLEAN UP AFTER.AND AS LONG AS YOU HAVE GOOD STRONG CLIPS TO SECURE THE SCREEN IT WILL NOT GET OUT.A GOOD HEAVY BOOK AT THE EDGE WILL MAKE HER FEEL BETTER ABOUT IT GETTING OUT.THIS ALSO DEPENDS ON HOW BIG OF A SNAKE YOU GET..START SMALL GET EXPERIENCE FIRST WITH CARING FOR THEM..
