I would put the snake in a snake bag or pillow case. Tie it shut. Then place the bag into either a rubbermaid tote that has some holes melted in it (you can do it with a $5 soddering iron from any hardware store) or into a box with holes cut into the sides. You can put newspaper or bedding on the bottom of the tote/box so that if the snake pees, there is something to soak it up. Tape the box or tote shut so the snake can't escape and you are good to go.
A snake will not need to eat or drink for the trip, so no need to even worry about that. Just open the box or tote(but not the bag) a few times a day just move the air around.
You will not get arrested for driving with the snake nor can a ball python kill anyone.
