I would like to find someone to buy my ball python, but I want him to go to a good home anyone inter2007-11-24 2:01:08

He is non-aggressive. I have had him for years but recently discovered that he will most likely out live me! I don't think I can care for him that long. I have no problems with him. just don't want to have a pet snake when I am 70! I am not trying to be insensitive.just don't know what to do

Unfortunately Ball Python only live about 15 years.. So saying he'll out live you isn't correct.. It all depends on how old you are now..

My Ball Pythons are about 10 years old, and to have had them as long as you and to have him healthy then you've been doing the right thing.. You can offer him to a zoo, or try finding a herpetologisy or hobbyist in your area.. Most places have societies which might be able to help out.. when we left the Uk we had to give up our snakes to a good home and we sort out the hobbyists in the Uk and got them a good home. Unfortunately we found out recently that one of them died due to ill health but nothing could ahve been done to save his life.. The other one is in the process of copulating so fingers crossed I'll have some good news..

Whatever you're decision, make sure that the person that's taking the snake on it's a novice as the Ball Python isn't really for a novice..

So basically he'll only be a round for another 5-6 years..

Same life span as a dog really..

It's not like a parrot that can live for 50-100 year depending on the breed of parrot..

If you are hard pressed to find him a good home most local shelters and SPCA's will take snakes and other reptiles.
