Iguana large and small together
Can I put my small 14鈥?iggy in with my 3 foot iggy, in the 60 gal. ?
Answers:Your 3' ig should be in a full-sized adult cage by now.:-) This will be 6'T x 6'W x 3'D. A 60 gallon would be like you living in your closet day after day. The baby will be fine in the 60 gal. until it got to be about 2' in length.then you need to consider a second enclosure.the same size as what's needed for the first.
At 14" you can't even tell the sex yet. If it happened to be a male.and the larger one a male.the results could be deadly. Even with another female.a male is not above killing it.though they do not resrt to cannibalism. Sometimes two females can live together, but usually only if they start out together.and they would both need their own basking area complete with seperate UVB and heat sources.
Here's some links on housing multiple igs.
sorry but the huge iggy would be mean to the small one, they even have bullying then cannablism in its habitat.
nope, im afraid the older ig may kill the smaller one. And a 60 gal is too small for a 3 foot ig, let alone 2 igs. No igs can be together. Some people put there igs together from hatchlings, but then one day one of the igs "suddenly attacks" the other. Igs are too territorial to be with anybody else. Even being able to see another ig can cause stress. Especially with males.
First of all, your 3 foot iggy needs a bigger aquarium. 60 gallons is way too small for an iggy that is 3 feet long, much less putting two in there. A full grown iguana needs a cage that is at least 6'x6'x3'. Also, iguanas are territorial so they might seem alright at first but can get to where they hate seeing eachother. Not all iguanas get this way, just depends. i definitely recommend having two separate enclosures. I can't believe you got another iguana when you really don't know anything about the first one you got. You should really do some research. I recommend this book called "Iguanas For Dummies". It can be purchased at amazon.com, it is like 30-40 dollars and will be the best thing you ever purchased. good luck.
