Im geting a snakes what do i need for it

Do some research on the breed of snake you plan on buying, if you haven't done so already.

TERRARIUM & FURNITURE:

You first need to buy a terrarium. Based on the size that the snake will grow to, you'll probably need a 10- to 60-gallon tank, at least.

-- If it's a snake that loves to live in trees (arboreal species like the emerald tree boa or green tree python), then you'll want to get a terrarium that's more tall than wide so that you may put large branches for him/her to climb up.

-- If it's a species that typically likes to stay on the ground (terrestrial species like corn snakes, king snakes, and garter snakes), get a terrarium that's more wide than tall.

-- You'll want to get substrate (bedding) for the snake. If you decide to get any type of wood chips, make sure that the chips are large enough that the snake won't accidentally swallow them.

-- You'll want a water bowl that is large enough for the snake to completely submerse itself in. Some species love to soak themselves, especially before they shed (it helps to soften the outer layer of skin).

-- You'll want to get one or two rocks for the terrarium. The snake will most likely use the rocks to bask in the sun (the rocks retain a lot of heat) and will use them to aid in shedding.

-- You MUST get someplace for the snake to hide in. Snakes are shy creatures and will not do well in captivity if they don't have a "hide box". If it's an arboreal species, get a hide box that's made to be attached to one of the branches you'll have. If it's a terrestrial species, a hollow log, or something of the sort, will do just fine.
