I want a red-tailed boa but how do I train him to stay around me and on me, like on my arm, or neck?
Answers:You train it by being lucky and picking a naturally mild and slow snake. Thier is no trick to it. Just alot of handling. It's totally up to the snake though. Boas and Pythons are NOT known for being fast or constant movers, so your chances of having a snake that chills with you are pretty good. You also serve as a heat source for the snake if they are in a colder area.
yay. good for you??
Keep in mind that red tailed boas get to be 20 feet in length. After about 10 foot of length it is no longer safe to handle them alone. You also need to consider the amount of food it will take to feed those huge snakes. You also must have a cage the size of a small room to keep him in. Not to mention if it gets away it easily has the capability to kill just about anything including you. Also when they deficate, were not talking about a rottweiler pooping in your floor, were talking about a 20 foot snake dumping a load the size of texas. It is not pretty. If you want a novelty snake, these pythons are not the right snake. They will very quickly get much to big to "rest on your arm." If you want a large snake, go with a ball python. They get about 6 foot long. Or even better, go with a corn or a king. They come in lots of colores and stay around 5 foot long. I have owned pythons, and though their temperment is "usualy" pretty good, they get HUGE!
I have a red tailed boa, I've done lots of research on them and on none of the sites did it say they would reach a length of 20 feet and I think kristy or whatever is confusing a red tailed boa constrictor with a python of some kind.RTB's they can get from around 8-10 feet usually and if you get a male they tend to be smaller and when they're full grown require a 4'x2'x2' cage if it's male and for females a 6'x2'x2'. ok to tame them you just handle them offten thats it, I love my boa,he's awesome, Good luck and heres a site that has lots of info on red tailed boa's =)
