My Bearded Dragon is not moving much, what could it be2007-11-24 2:01:34

He is about 7 months old and he hasn't eaten much and he doesn't go to the heat lamp unless I put him there. He also hasn't went to the washroom for a couple of days and doesn't move much.

Well, first off I have a Bearded Dragon so I have encountered this problem. I took him to the vet for a check up and found out that they get get that way during the season change. Mine goes through this twice a year and it lasts about a month. He won't eat hardly or move unless I move his lazy . But right before winter & spring he does this and he does get over it. I just make sure to keep him warm with the food and water there when he might want it. I don't know about all dragons, but this is how mine is, and he is 7years old now,so maybe that is your problem too?

try putting him back in the wild where he belongs
He could have a cold or flu. Reptiles are VERY susceptible to human viruses, and if anyone in your home has been sick and near him, he may have caught it. Call your vet.

Also, reptiles don't "go to the washroom." They relieve themselves, or urinate, or have bowel movements. Humans go to the washroom.

What kind of substrait is he on ? What temperatures are in his tank? If he's on anything other than sand, then you need to put him on sand. The temps should be on the warm side 101-80 and on the cool side mid-80's. At seven months old he should be getting crickets no bigger than the width of his head. If he isn't going to the bathroom than he probably isn't eating and his crickets are too big.
for the person who wrote the first answer, i hate you. you dont know what your talking about. I dont think hes gonna travel 19 hours to put him back in the wild. plus, he is not a wild animal. he was born in captivity. the reason why he is not moving might be because he may be temporarily paralizyed. he may have ate crickets too big, and this can cause paralysis. take him to the vet though.
Take him to a vet. They do shed their skin like snakes so that could be the problem.
reptiles rarly movemuch
take him to a vet! i had a boyfriend who had a bearded named attilla and attilla became lethargic and died within a week. good luck!
take your beardie to the pet shop and ask them to tell you what is wrong with him, or take him to the vet, there must be something very wrong with him not to be moving
