My beardie wont come out of the tree2007-11-24 2:01:35

I introduced a new dragon a little younger than the one we had and while they haven't fought the younger has found a spot in a tree and will not come down until I take her down then she goes right back and she has not eaten since monday. Should I seperate them or just give them more time, I am getting worried.

You need to separate them. The little one is afraid of the big one which it why it stays in the tree. It knows the big one is probably unable to get up in the tree to get him. Do not have lizards live in the small cage unless they are the same size.

yes, beardies are very territorial. you've put them in a pretty stressful situation. if you MUST have them in the same cage, take both lizards out, clean the tank completely and put in new sand. put at least two or three hide-out in there. then re-introduce them both to the tank at the same time. keep the cage light dimmed for a while while they adjust.

If she hasn't eaten since Monday I'd take her to the Vet asap, she could dehydrate pretty quickly, then you'd lose her. She may feel safer in the tree.

I don't think its wise puttin' them together. knowing the fact that they are territorial and they will certainly fight. but perhaps over time they will get use to eachother, I mean how do pet-store owners keep two or three full-grown beardies in one tank? Should be possible. but sounds to me that your beardy might be sick or just too afraid of the bigger one.
