My red ear slider wont eat2007-11-24 2:01:44

I had three turtles, one will eat anything, and two wouldn't eat. I gave them tetrafauna reptomin pellets and put each in a feeding tank separately so i could know how much they eat each. One of them died a few days ago and I noticed it never ate. Any suggestions for other pelletes?

Turtles are very hard to keep as pets. If anything in their enclosure is wrong (such as lighting, heat, size, water temp, water filtration, and more) they will die. Not eating is a sign that something is wrong. My advice would be to check out this web site. http://www.austinsturtlepage.com. Click on the care sheets link and get the care sheet for your turtle. Do everything the care sheets tells you to. The enclosure has to be set up perfectly. Good luck.

try gammerus pellets and krill. i use the frozen krill havent seen a read ear turn it down yet plus its an all natural food thats good for it. you can also try live foods to stimulate it, ghost shrimp and feeder minnows, but minnows are like pizza (tastes good but not that good for ya)

Red-ear sliders also like fresh greens like spinach and lettuce (not iceberg), especially dandelion greens. They also like to eat small gold fish. Had one that ate tadpoles. He also ate the pellets. Just give them a variety and they will choose.

ReptoMin is OK, but there are better pellets out there- price is a good guide.

I am more concerned about other conditions like temps and water quality.

You can also try things like bloodworms.
