I fouind this turtle at a lake it looked burnt but it want and it had spikes. So is it a snapping turtle?

Answers:

Alligator Snapping Turtle does have ridges(spikes) on it's shell. You should be able to find a pic on internet easily enough.

Sounds like one to me.
1. Leave it alone- it has a better chance in the wild!

2. For more, try http://www.chelydra.org Great snapper site!

Sounds like an Alligator Snapping Turtle. becareful, then can bite off fingers very easily!
I don't know where you live, but I did find a site with decent

identifier/comparison pictures of both the common and the alligator snapping turtles.

Check it out at: http://www.chelydra.org/common_alligator.

Sorry, I'm kind of a cyber-brick/dinosaur, so I don't know how to prepare the link for you.

Hope this helps anyway!

Good Luck, & may God Bless!!
