What are the best ways of handling And Picking up an Adult ball python and a Baby ball python2007-11-24 2:03:04

Wondering, Ive handle a corn snake, a boa, but all the times ive handled them some one just put in on my hand and just lookin for tips to handle a snake, so i dont get bitten and if a snake wraps around you arm or neck trying to constrict you they say you can flip the tail and bend it a bit and the snake will let go, is that true

Don't worry, the largest Ball Python couldn't even come close to killing you. When you go to pick them up, move slowly from the side or behind their head. Reach underneath them and pick them up. If it's a large Ball, make sure you use both hands to support their body.

Do not try to restrain their head as they are head shy and it will just stress them out in addition to distrusting you and possibly biting you when you let go. Instead, just allow them to move where they want while gently controlling where they go.

Occasionally you might find an agressive Ball Python, but 99 times out of 100 when they bite you, it's just a quick bite and release. If it's a hunger strike, they might bite and constrict your arm but even that isn't a big deal. Try not to jerk your hand back or else you could break some of their teeth. Instead, run cool water over their head or in extreme cases you put a little bit of hard liquor in their mouth to get them to let go.
