What do corn snakes eat2007-11-24 2:03:21

I have been considering on getting one but I don't know what they eat! HELP!

Answers:

Mice. Baby mice (calle Pinkies, Hoppers, Jumpers, etc.) when the snake is little and adult mice when the snake is bigger. I've never seen a corn snake eat a rat before nor have I known one to, but I don't think they do.

Rats in the corn and also they will eat other snakes, so they are not pests, they are actually good to have around, if any snake can be called good.If you get one as a pet, you will have to feed him mice which you get from the pet store also. You can get live ones each time he needs to eat, or you can keep some in the freezer..Nice huh?

Jeez, I can't believe some of the answers to this simple question! Cornsnakes do not eat popcorn, corn, or insects. Cornsnakes are a breed of ratsnake that eat rodents such as mice & rats. A baby cornsnake is the least expensive to get, usually running around $25 or so for one that is a proven feeder. Start it on small "pinky" (newborn) mice, usually about one every five days or so. As the snake ages, increase the size of the meal and spread out the feeding intervels. By one year the snake should be eating juvenile or adult mice about once every 10 days. By two years of age the snake should be eating a large mouse or a juvenile rat every two weeks. The general rule of thumb is to keep the size of the food item about the same girth as the snake. Corns tend to go off their feed in the winter for up to three months or so (hibernation season, many animals do it) and start eating again in the spring.
